Governor reviews Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimages issues
Directs speedy finalization of Master Plan of Hospital Campus for devotees of Mata Vaishno Devi and local people as well
JAMMU: Governor N. N. Vohra, Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board today visited Kakryal and reviewed the functioning of the Superspeciality Hospital.
The Governor accompanied by Sh. H. L. Maini and Major General (Retd.) S. K. Sharma, members of the Board, Mr. A. K. Sahu, Chief Executive Officer, Dr. M. K. Kumar, Additional CEO, and other concerned officers and engineers of the Board went around various departments of the hospital and observed the functioning of hi-end equipments and various critical care units among which were Linear Accelerator, Brachytherapy, Endoscopy, Oncology OPD, CSSD, Bone Marrow Transplant, Intensive Thoracic Unit, Medical ICU, Neuro-ICU, Post-Operative Ward, Cardiac Sciences OPD, IPD and Hospital Kitchen. He interacted with the doctors, paramedics and other staff of the hospital, patients and their attendants.
The Governor was briefed about the Hospital functioning by Mr. Sunil Kumar CN, CEO of the SMVDNSH and Zonal Head NH and Dr. (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer of the Hospital. The Governor was informed that reputed Consultants of other NH Hospitals are regularly visiting the Superspeciality Hospital Kakryal for the benefit of the patients. Besides, more Consultants are being added in various disciplines to meet the emerging requirements. The Governor also discussed the data of the Hospital functioning and was happy to learn that since it became operational, on 8th April 2016, the Hospital has treated over 51,000 patients and that nearly 1100 major surgeries have been performed which include: 58 Heart Surgery; 53 Neuro Surgery; 233 Gastro; 129 Cancer; 241 Ortho and 379 others. Besides, 209 Coronary Angiographies; 50 Angioplasty have been performed here. Side by side the doctors have held 57 Outreach Camps in which nearly 11,000 patients were screened and 1550 referred for treatment.
The Governor also visited other ongoing works in Hospital complex, including Police Post and other facilities.
While inspecting the ongoing work on Additional Nurses Hostel, the Governor directed the CEO for redoubling efforts to complete this building as per the envisaged timeline.
With regard to the preparation of Master Plan for establishing complexes for Nursing College and Medical College, the CEO informed that School of Planning and Architecture shall commence the work very soon.
Governor N N Vohra today reviewed the pilgrimage issues of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine during a meeting held at Narayana Super Speciality Hospital, Kakryal in Reasi district.The Governor, who is also the Chairman of the Shrine Board reviewed various pilgrimage related issues with A K Sahu, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board.
Pertinent to mention here that much before the Shrine Board’s Super Speciality Hospital was commissioned the Governor had held a series of meetings including with the then Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and others to settle a time frame for the repair and upgradation of the Domail?Katra and Domail-Kakryal roads; completion of the National Highway-Kakryal link and construction of the new road to connect Katra Railway Station with Kakryal.
In today’s Review Meeting Mr Sahu informed the Governor that the new Katra-Kakryal road, which will also provide valuable linkage to the interior villages, has been blacktopped and shall become fully functional by March 2017.
As regards the Domail-Katra and the Domail-Kakryal roads, both of them are in satisfactory condition and the new road from National Highway to Kakryal is now also being quite intensively used by patients visiting the Shrine Board Hospital from the Udhampur side.
