Jammu, Governor N. N. Vohra, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh and others greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Dev’s Birthday.

In a message of greetings, the Governor described Guru Nanak Devji as an apostle of peace and tolerance whose teachings would continue to inspire generations, leading them to the path of righteousness and brotherhood. He said that Guruji strove all his life for promoting social justice and equality and to bring about peace and harmony among the communities.
The Governor hoped that the celebration of this auspicious event would contribute towards strengthening brotherhood and communal harmony and would be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity in the State.
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has greeted people of the State on the occasion of Gurupurab.
In her message of greetings, the Chief Minister described Guru Nanak Devji as an apostle of peace and tolerance whose teachings would continue to inspire generations, leading to the path of righteousness and brotherhood.
The Chief Minister hoped that the occasion strengthens brotherhood, communal harmony, amity and secular values in the State.

He further hoped that auspicious event would contribute towards strengthening brotherhood and communal harmony and would be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity in the State.
Meanwhile All Parties Sikh Co-ordination Committee has conveyed its greetings to the people on the occasion of Gurupurab being celebrated on saturday around the globe. In a statement,APSCC chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina,said “people should follow teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and His message of love and peace should percolate down the world. APSCC Chairman said,”ultimate peace can be achieved if people follow the path set out by Guru Nanak ji. He said Kashmir held a special place for Guru Nanak ji since he visited the valley along with His companions which left an indomitable impact on Kashmir.There are various testimonies and artifacts which confirm the historical lineage with Gurudwara in Leh, Bijbehara, Ramnagar as well as many other parts of the state which are associated with his visit. Guru Nank Dev ji visited Kashmir in 1518 AD. He stayed at Bijbehara and Avantipur. He happened to meet Pandit Brahm Das who was highly impressed with the way of life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji which led him to embrace Sikhism, the beginning of the Sikhism in the valley. Universal brotherhood and secularism entailed from his companionship with Bala; a Hindu and Mardana; a Muslim. A musical instrument ‘rabaab’ that was always carried by Mardana, is preserved at Shernangla in Ramnagar Jammu.
Although ,Guru Nanak Dev ji preached against caste systems and suppression carried out all around the world. He covered thousands of miles on foot, addressing and preaching people about humanity. The natives of Basoli were so much influenced by the philosophy of Guru Nanak dev Ji which reflects in the Seventeenth-Eighteen century paintings (pahari and miniature paintings), which are available in worldwide libraries. He used to enlighten people by reciting the hymns and showering praise on Almighty. His preaching was so effective that social evils and demons adopted the path of sincerity and honesty.
The presidents of APSCC (North, Central and South) respectively Engr. Nirmal Singh Bali, Master Kuldeep Singh Bali, S. Fauja Singh and other senior leaders of APSCC Ajit Singh Mastana, Principal Niranjan Singh, Sant Singh, Davinder Singh also conveyed wishes of “happy gurupurab” and prayed for the peace in state of Jammu & Kashmir.
Former MLC and Chief Spokesperson Mr. Ravinder Sharma has extended heartiest greetings to the people especially the followers of Guru Nanak Dev Ji on his Prakash divas.
In a message Mr. Sharma said that the life teachings and preaching’s of Guru Nanak Dev Ji serve as a source of great enlightment for the whole humanity.
He preached human values, love, affections, mutual brotherhood and service of humanity. His message and teachings are relevant for all human being to live in peace and attain eternal wish.
Not only Sikh community but large number of people across communities and religions follow the teachings of Guru Ji.
Mr. Sharma has also greeted the people of State and entire northern India on the eve of Jhiri Mela. He said that this Mela which is considered to be the biggest in northern India, is the great significance not only to his followers but people of all faiths and section of the society. It reminds us of the great sacrifice of a peasants hero and a deity Bawa Jito, who himself was a great devotee of Mata Vaishno Devi Ji. This preaches us the sense of revolt and fight back against injustice of any sort. He sacrificed his life to awaken the society to ultimately free the poor peasants and deserving one from the injustices.
