SRINAGAR, AUGUST 07: Recognizing the meritorious performance of Anika Shabir, who secured first position in the 10th class examination, the Government today presented a laptop to her besides regularizing the services of her father, Shabir Ahmad – an employee of JKPCC. The laptop was presented to Anika by Minister for R&B, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari in presence of Minister for Education, Syed Naeem Akhtar and Minister of State for R&B and Revenue Sunil Kumar Sharma at Civil Secretariat here today.
The Ministers commended the girl for her hard work, who despite living in a far flung area of Tral and belonging to a family with meagre resources, secured top position in 10th class examination. “Her dedication coupled with the support of her parents has led her to outshine her other batch-mates across Kashmir,” they said and hoped that more and more such shining stars will make it to the top in future.
The Ministers also appreciated the spirit of her father Shabir Ahmad, a daily rated worker of Jammu Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) for extending moral and financial support to his daughter for achieving this position despite financial constraints.
Expressing her views on the occasion, Anika said that she is feeling elated and motivated at the Government’s encouragement adding that she will do her best to perform with excellence in future examinations also. She said this encouragement will inspire other students also to work hard and achieve best results irrespective of their economic background.
In a message to the student community, Anika said “reading with dedication is key to success”. Advocating the dictum “as you sow so shall you reap” she said it fits best for students as hard-work is another name for success. Regarding her aim, Anika said she likes medical sciences and would like to pursue the subject.
Among others, Commissioner Secretary, R&B, Rohit Kansal, Managing Director, JKPCC, PL Bhushan, Shabir Ahmad, father of Anika were also present on the occasion.
