Govt making earnest efforts for upliftment of Tribals: Zulfkar

LEH, JULY 26: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) and Tribal Affairs, Ch. Zulfkar Ali said that the Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed is making earnest efforts for socio-economic development of weaker sections of the State, adding that various initiatives have been taken by the Government to cater the needs of such underprivileged communities.

This was stated by the Minister during an extensive tour of the tribal villages of Durbugh block here today.

The Minister was accompanied by Secretary Tribal Affairs, Director Tribal Affairs, Director, CA&PD besides other senior officers.

Interacting with the tribals, the Minister reiterated that larger objective of a separate Tribal Ministry is to provide more attention to integrated and holistic development of the tribal communities in a planned manner with effective implementation of various welfare schemes and optimal utilization of funds earmarked for their welfare.

During the visit to the tribal villages, various local delegations called upon the Minister and presented before him various demands and issues faced by them. The Minister gave a patient hearing and assured them that their grievances shall be looked into and all their genuine demands would be considered on priority.

The Minister directed the concerned to be proactive towards people needs and grievances besides ensuring transparent services. He said that development of the tribals is being given focused attention and is one of the priorities of the present dispensation.
