The order has been issued by the commissioner secretary, state education department Shaleen Kabra.
The schools have been advised to compensate the loss of working days through suitable adjustments in the vacations.
The mercury had crossed 43 degrees celsius in Jammu, setting the record high temp of the season. According to weathermen it is expected to rise further on Monday and may touch 44 degrees.
In the wake of govt order the school managements may be forced to prepone the schedule of summer vacations in the state.
