Jammu: Notwithstanding the tall claims of the state government and concerned Member Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to take care of and manage properly the large number of statues installed in various parts of the Jammu city, around eight to nine statues at various Chowks face utter neglect both from government as well as people of the city. The statues of famous and historic personalities are in dilapidated condition with no one giving any attention towards their fate.

The statue of Maharaja Hari Singh at Kalka Colony Chowk near Bahu-Fort, Indira Gandhi’s statue recently installed near Indira Chowk, Brigadier Rajinder Singh’s statue at Bikaram Chowk, Balwinder Singh’s statue at Rehari Chowk, Dogra Shourya Samark near Manda Park, Raja Jambulochan’s statue near Civil Secretariat Jammu, Dr. Baba Sahib Ambedkar’s statue and Shaheed Bhagat Singh statue at Sarwal are in poor state, and see proper cleaning only once in a year.

Almost, all these statues remained untouched by the concerned dignitaries who visit only on special occasions but after paying homage to them, no one has return back to ensure these are kept clean, and in a prim and proper condition.
