Govt to make food grain allocation online: Zulfkar

Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today said that from this month onwards food grains would be allotted through online system.

Speaking during a review meeting, the Minister said that the online allocation system of food grains would help the department in ensuring speedy distribution of food grains to its consumers.

Mr. Zulfkar said that the system would be started on pilot basis in district Samba in Jammu and district Kulgam in Kashmir. He added that for district Samba the inauguration of the online system would be done on August 16, while in district Kulgam the system would get inaugurated on August 25.

While asking all Deputy Commissioners to expedite work on Aadhar seeding, the Minister instructed that for districts Samba and Kulgam the seeding should be completed by the end of current month.

The Minister said that every new thing takes time to get perfect, adding that if FCS&CA manages to achieve success of even 50 percent in putting electronic Public Distribution System (ePDS) in place, it should be seen as good sign. He said replacing the old system with the new one will take time.

While directing the concerned agencies to make Supply Chain Management system operational by August 20th the Minister also asked to ensure that Fair Price Shops (FPSs) automation should be started in next two months.

Stressing on the need to make grievance redressal cell operational soon, the Minister said that by making the cell operational the FCS&CA could improve its services by immediately addressing the concerns or complaints registered by consumers.  He said the cell would also enable the department to know its lacunas and the areas where it needs improvement.

Mr. Zulfkar instructed the concerned agencies to make a proper training schedule according to which FCS&CA employees could be trained. He said that there are many employees in the department who are not well versed with computers.  However, with proper training not only would we make our human resource more skillful but the training would ensure smooth functioning of the department also.

Special Secretary, FCS&CA, Nisar Ahmed Wani; State Informatics Officer Mr. Abhay Kumar; Director FCS&CA Tassudak Jeelani and other officers attended the meeting.
