JAMMU, APRIL 7: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Syeed Basharat Bukhari has said that government would give new impetus to the functioning of Revenue Department to provide transparent and accountable administration to the people at gross root level in the State. He said a vision document would be formulated to reflect how to move ahead in coming years to preserve and protect land for future generation.
Reviewing the functioning of the Department at an officers meeting here Thursday, the Revenue Minister asked the Financial Commissioner Revenue to formulate a comprehensive proposal for redefining and re-organising the Department at all levels. He also instructed formulation of revenue court manual for prompt disposal of land dispute cases through different Courts of the Department.
Financial Commissioner Revenue, Regional Director and Survey Land Records and Assistant Settlement Commissioner were among others who attended the meeting.
The Financial Commissioner gave a detailed brief of the different activities of the Department to the Minister during the meeting.
The Minister stressed on strict implementation of different Acts for the welfare of the people besides Protection of State and Khacharai land from encroachers.
The Minister directed that Patwaries should remain available for two days in a week in their halqas for prompt disposal of revenue matters adding that the working of field functionaries would be monitored strictly. He instructed that there should be no delay from officials at any level in issuing the PRCs and other requisite certificates to the needed ones.
The Minister said that web portals would be installed in Revenue offices at different levels to monitor the working of officials on daily and quarterly basis with the aim that people do not face any inconvenience.
