This step has been taken in order to clear extra rush of pilgrims for Vaishnodevi shrine during this festive season.
It is also pertinent to note that the tourism in the state has been badly affected by the ongoing unrest in the Valley. Therefore, to revive tourism in the state and particularly in Jammu again, the Railway Ministry has taken this initiative.
In the return direction, the train will depart from Katra railway station on every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 2 PM to reach Old Delhi at 3.40 AM the next day.
Comprising 12 AC-3 and two second class-cum-luggage van coaches, the special train will stop at Panipat, Ambala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Pathankot, Jammu and Udhampur stations en-route in both the directions.
