In a positive development for the inhabitants of Srinagar the authorities have decided to introduce luxury bus service for the inhabitants of the city which will benefit thousands of commuters daily. The non-stop bus service will ply from SMHS hospital to SKIMS Soura, and a private operator will supply the buses to be run for this purpose.
While the decision of the government is commendable, and all praise should go to the authorities in Srinagar but the state should also remember that a province called Jammu also happens to be the winter capital of the state. This region, and it’s capital is paying more tax to the government than the entire state combined together, and despite that there is no succor for people of this region.
People in Jammu are also suffering because of overloading, constant jams, too small seats, and no bus stops. In such a scenario it would have been great if the state government would also have introduced the bus service in Jammu city as well.
The buses in Srinagar will be air-conditioned and have latest facilities, authorities said. The point is what is stopping the administration in Jammu from launching similar services in the city. The price of ticket in Srinagar is also likely to kept minimal to ensure that buses have adequate passengers, and make the service viable.
To do this SRTC will procure ten luxury buses for Srinagar, and make the service operational soon.
