Jammu, 22 April: As much as it should shock us, it should also make us feel ashamed. The Super Specialty Hospital is a pretty big deal in itself. It is a place where lives are saved. That makes its up-keeping a very important issue. On Monday an Endoscopy Machine worth 1 Crore went missing from the Super Specialty Hospital. The machine as such is not a small unit that can be carried in a pocket and no one would notice.
Authorities had no idea and everything went haywire. The police searched through and through and finally discovered the machine in a Doctor’s Clinic.
What is important to question is were the doctors involved in doing side-business despite strict orders on top of that using government machinery?
The members of the committee that was set up to look into this matter found the machine late at night at a doctor’s clinic. Giving assurance, the Health Minister Bali Bhagat said that the machine was found at 11:30 in the night. And the police was rigorously searching for the same for the past many days.
The committee said that they learned about the missing machine when they had gone to shift it to the GMC Campus. The Gastroenterology Department was recently shifted back to the Medical College campus and the hospital authorities had gone to do the needful. They were taken aback at the sight of no Machine. A case was registered with the Bakshi Nagar Police Station and subsequent search operation began.
The police and the Health Minister have guaranteed high profile investigation into the matter. Just hoping that the next time we enter the hospital of our city, we don’t get to see empty rooms with missing machines.
