Bhalessa, Mar,30: Sanjay Manhas Incharage Chenab valley Congress Sewa Dal said in spite of tall claims made by the state government, Gujjar community of Chenab Valley is still fighting for fundamental rights. He castigates state govt and said that like other sections of the society and communities, the ST community has resentment against the present coalition Government as benefits of various centrally-sponsored schemes launched for their welfare and upliftment is not reaching to the real deserving families.
He said “the scholarships for the poor ST students are sanctioned but not released in time.The developmental works to be undertaken under special schemes are also seen lingering for lack of will and approval by the concerned authorities.He said that it always remained in his mind that the areas in which have the population of STs need special attention as they remained ignored by the government in all matters and in all spheres”.
Manhas added, “Majority of the ST population is facing acute scarcity of drinking water and no action has been taken to ameliorate the supply there and people have been completely deprived of basic amenities with no action in sight.”
He further said that on the developmental front ST community has suffered a lot and has also been made the scapegoat as despite availability of funds for various schemes especially in drainage, power, roads sector the money has either been diverted or deliberately left unutilised.
“The delay in executing developmental projects signifies the denial of same to people of Gujjar community. Time and time again the voice of the people of this particular section has fallen on deaf ears as the government is showing careless attitude and forcing common people to live a miserable life and nobody is ready to listen to them.” he noticed.
Manhas demanded a special package for development of areas where Gujjar community reside which stands neglected for decades.
