Chandigarh: A 29-year-old gym trainer died after falling from the fourth floor in Sector 17 on Saturday night. The victim was identified as Bunty, a resident of PEC University of Technology campus. He was allegedly in inebriated condition when the accident took place.
Family members ruled out any foul play, not holding anyone responsible for his death. Sector 17 police have initiated inquest proceedings in the case.
Sarita Roy, in-charge of Neelam police post, said Bunty and his friends were having a party on the roof of “Valentine” gym, where he worked, around 10.30 pm. After the party, Bunty tried to walk down but slipped and fell. Immediately, his friends informed the police. He was taken to Government Multi-specialty Hospital, Sector 16, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police said the medical report of the victim confirmed he was under the influence of liquor at the time of the incident. Police have kept the body in the mortuary of the hospital.
Ravi, the victim’s brother, said they don’t suspect any foul play as he was with his close friends. The family did not lodge any complaint. However, police have initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 of the CrPC. Bunty’s father works as a class IV employee in PEC.
