Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today conducted extensive tour of various areas of Chrar-e-Sharief Constituency. He also visited Nego, Branwar, Surasyar, Jabad and Zildara villages where the landslide affected families have been temporarily accommodated. He also inspected several developmental works under execution in these areas.
The Minister directed the PMGSY authorities to prepare Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Nego-Jabad road and submit the same to the concerned quarter at an earliest so that the funds could be arranged for the purpose. He also instructed the Roads and Buildings department to take necessary measures for temporary restoration of the said road on war footing basis. He also instructed the officers of Irrigation department to renovate the Surasyar irrigation Khul on priority.
The Minister was informed that 196 families were affected by the landslides and land erosion in the district, out of which residential house of 11 families were fully damaged. He was also informed that 156 tents have been provided to the affected families and 32.6 quintals of rice has been distributed free of cost among the affectees.
The Minister also visited Government Primary Health Centre Surasyar and inspected various sections including OPD, Dental, ISM OPD and X-ray units of the health institute. He directed the hospital authorities to stock adequate quantity of life saving drugs at the Centre.
While taking stock of the medicines available in the health centre, the Minister said that the matter of deficiency of drugs will be taken up with the concerned quarters.
Enroute, Mr. Hanjura interacted with the locals who awared him about their developmental problems. The Minister said that the Government is fully aware of the people’s problems and is making every effort to address their grievances. He said the Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is committed to provide basic better amenities to the people.
Deputy Commissioner, Budgam along with a team of senior officers of district accompanied the Minister.
