Jammu, 07 May: If the reports of a local daily are to be trusted, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has supposedly ordered to re-engage the National Youth Corps (NYCs) in various government departments of the state. If this information holds any water, then this could mean that those in opposition – National conference and Congress will feel some heat as the NYCs were shown the door in 2010 by the NC-Congress govt.
Reports in a local daily say that the chief minister herself has taken up the matter of NYCs with the finance minister Haseeb Drabu. The direction is to formulate a comprehensive policy for the re-engagement of NYCs.
Last year as well members of NYC had gone on an indefinite hunger strike after the PDP-BJP government discontinued their services.
It was, however, the Congress-NC Coalition that had first put these youth on wait with a conditional. The order issued was on the conditional approval to the appointment of these NYCs in the government services subject to clearance from the finance and the planning department.
Sources according to the report say that a special grant for the NYCs has been kept in the forthcoming budget session during which a formal announcement shall be made.
