Head assistant at ZEO Beerwah restored to his post even after allegedly swindling lakhs
Srinagar, September 07: Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) officials have failed to take any action against the employee of DSEK who is alleged of involvement in the fraud of lakhs of rupees sanctioned to various schools in education zone Beerwah in central Kashmir’s Budgam district under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA)
As per media reports, a head assistant, Ghulam Nabi Qadri at Zonal Education Office (ZEO) Beerwah was alleged to have swindled funds involving money in lakhs provided by government treasury under SSA. He allegedly faked the use of money for the construction of kitchen blocks for Mid Day Meal (MDM) scheme in various school but used the money for his own purpose.
After the matter came into light, a departmental enquiry was made by District Vigilance Officer Budgam who was appointed as the enquiry officer by the concerned Chief Education Officer (CEO) which proved the assistant guilty of embezzlement of funds and he was suspended. However, action was initiated for either to know where the funds actually went or for the restoration of money. According to the sources, the head assistant is being sheltered by a list of officers of the department of School Education.
Official sources have also revealed that after remaining suspended for around 5 months, the assistant was restored on his previous post and even during the suspension, he kept interfering with the Zone office work.
