SRINAGAR: While the Valley’s hospitals are facing shortage of vital equipments, the Health Department of the State is short of around 7,000 employees including doctors, resulting in the continuous deterioration of the health sector .
According to official statistics, the Health and Medical Education has shortage of 6,700 employees including doctors and paramedical employees.Official sources said over 4186 posts including those of doctors and paramedics are lying vacant in the Health Department.
In Medical Education sector, the hospitals associated with Government Medical Colleges in the State have 2,581 vacant posts, including 2,127 in non-gazetted and 454 in gazetted categories.
“The government claims of filling the vacant posts have only been confined to papers as no efforts are being made to fulfill these vacancies,” said an official of the Health Department.
