Heaps of garbage are seen lying in various parts of the city as the Jammu Municipality is unable to lift and dispose of garbage. Hygienic situation is deteriorating especially around densely populated and residential areas of the city.
The stinking smell emanating from the garbage has made it very difficult to walk on the roads and streets. Heaps of garbage are dumped on the road everyday and are not removed till next morning. There are no dustbins either.
It is nearly impossible to walk down the roads of city without covering your nose.
It seems that the administration has forgotten the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, which was started by Prime Ministers Modi. The posh and high-profile areas of the city are religiously cleaned on regular basis. whereas, other residential areas are plagued by the garbage problem.
The significance of cleanliness and hygiene cannot be overlooked by any society. Every faith and civilization stresses upon the importance of cleanliness and purity, both physical and spiritual.
Authorities should take immediate steps to provide clean and healthy environment to the people of the city.
