REASI: The revered Shiv Khori shrine would soon have helicopter services for the pilgrims visiting the religious place – the only pilgrim destination of Jammu and Kashmir after Shri Mata Vaishno Devi which is attracting huge number of devotees from across the country.
As per Deputy Commissioner Reasi-Sushma Chauhan, the construction of helipad and allied infrastructure along with approach road is almost complete and helicopter services are likely to start soon.
Chauhan who is also the Vice chairperson of Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board (SSKSB), said that final call on starting the service was likely to be taken in the upcoming board meeting.
Chauhan said the service will immensely benefit the pilgrims who in the past were unable to visit due to the shortage of time, adding that pilgrims to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine who have three hours time available with them will now be easily able to perform darshan of the Holy Lord Shivalingum at Shiv Khori.
With the Shiv Khori cave shrine attracting 165618 lakh pilgrims this year till April 30, the district administration and SSKSB are geared up to provide every possible facility to devotees to divert pilgrims of Vaishno Devi towards Shiv Khori, Chauhan added.
Chauhan said that at present, over 3000 devotees are visiting the cave shrine daily to pay obeisance and their numbers are increasing.
“The mounting number of pilgrims clearly indicates that Reasi, is emerging as one of the major ourist attractions of Jammu and Kashmir with tourists coming from all parts of country throughout the year and visiting religious places like Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, Shiv Khori, Dera Baba Banda Bahadur, Agarjitto, Naun Devi, Dhansar Baba, Baba Siyad, historical fort Bhimgarh Fort and enjoying adventure sports like river rafting and hiking, enjoying the lush green hills and watching Salal power project from top of the hill” she added.
