Jammu : In compliance to the instructions issued by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, today on15.09.2016 on the directions of Dr. Manmohan Singh (KAS), Municipal Commissioner the Joint Commissioner (Adm), Sh. R.S. Jamwal (KAS) & Secretary, Sh. Ranjit Singh (KAS) alongwith Health Officer, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Chief Enforcement Officer and other staff members of Jammu Municipal Corporation flaged off Public Awareness Campaign by way of publication of appeal pamphlet and a vehicle equipped with loud speakers for announcements.
The Joint Commissioner (A) stressed upon the issue which has come up from the society before Jammu Municipal Corporation regarding insanitation, encroachments, illegal constructions etc, he also stressed that it’s a prime responsibility of every citizen to make their surroundings neat and clean.
The Shopkeepers are aware that footpaths/pavements are meant for pedestrians and roads for vehicular traffic. The JMC appealed to all the shopkeepers not to place their articles on the footpaths, as it may cause inconvenience to pedestrians especially school going children and old age people of the society.
The issue of illegal constructions is also a big problem which is being faced by JMC on day to day basis, the owner raising constructions are advised that before starting any construction within the limits they must take prior permission from the Corporation, as the procedure for getting building permission has been made easiest.
The Joint Commissioner (Adm), Jammu Municipal Corporation also informed that JMC is going to conduct massive anti encroachment drive in all the wards of JMC. In this drive every nook and corner of the areas falling under the limits will be visited/inspected by Health, Enforcement, Revenue & Transport wing of JMC.
The main moto of this campaign is to convey appeal of Jammu Municipal Corporation before undertaking anti encroachment drive to inform all the shopkeepers as well as general public to remove their articles/material installed on footpaths/roads by encroaching upon the footpaths and pavements, stop undertaking illegal constructions without taking prior permission.
The general public is appealed not to keep their plots vacant, as they became health hazards due to accumulation of heap of garbage by throwing waste material by surrounding neighbrourers in the plots and also raise the boundary wall to secure/protect the plot.
The JMC also appealed to citizens do not throw polythene carry bags in the nallahs/drains as they cause blockage to drains/lanes/nallahs resulting insanitary conditions in the locality.
