Jammu, May 1: Tension gripped Jammu at wee hours of Monday, when two seperate incidents were reported from Rajouri and Kathua simultaneously. The security agencies have issued a high alert on National Highway.
Rajouri on High Alert
The Rajouri area of Jammu has been put on high alert after a weapon of a policeman was stolen. Reports say that an AK 47 rifle of a police personnel has been stolen. According to reports, the police personnel is on a lower court judge’s duty. While hunt is on for the weapon as well as the culprit, the entire area has been put on a high alert.
High alert in Kathua after 3 men hijack car, flee towards border areas
A high alert has been sounded in Jammu’s border district of Kathua today following reports of three men hijacking a Tavera vehicle from near Jammu bus stand.
According to the police, three suspected men hired a white Tavera car from Jammu and later tied its driver Kabir Hussain. They snatched his mobile phone and money near Chadwal Morh along Jammu-Kathua highway.
The incident happened at around 2 am today when the suspected men were travelling from Samba to Chadwal. They are believed to have fled towards the border areas.
As per initial reports, the three men were Gujjars from Rajouri and were speaking the local language. They were seen without any luggage or arms.
Meanwhile, the Valley, too, remains tense after a series of terror incidents. On Friday, the CRPF caught one terrorists who, along with an associate, was attempting a bank robbery in Anantnag. While one terrorist was caught, another escaped.
Earlier last week, terrorists also attacked an Army camp in Panzgam in Kupwara. Three Army personnel were martyred in the attack while two terrorists were killed in the gunbattle following the attack. One terrorist escaped the spot.
