Jammu, December 10: Hirdesh Kumar Singh, IAS, Commissioner/ Secretary to Government of Jammu & Kashmir, Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services & Sports Department has been conferred a prestigious National Award of Excellence at CSI Nihilent e-Governance Awards 2014-15 at New Delhi for implementing the android based JKPULSE Project Monitoring Tool for online monitoring of various departmental works/ schemes in J&K and taking a leap towards the model of smarter governance.
Out of numerous nominations from all over the country, three nominations were shortlisted by the panel of adjudicators for J&K initially for the field visit at Srinagar and later on for final round of presentations at Hyderabad to the distinguished jury last month. The three nominations included two from the Information Technology, Department one from the Election Department (by NIC).
Hirdesh said that Department is working hard to implement many more similar initiatives and expressed that implementing Information Technology in J&K is a challenge and has to be realized in totally innovative and peculiar ways. He stressed that the department under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister and Hon’ble Minister, Information Technology is working on many such initiatives and the state shall see the results in early days to come.
He added that only a few nominations were awarded the “Award of Excellence” which was cleared by a distinguished panel comprising of many Sr. IAS officers, Experts and Technocrats around the Globe. The Information Technology, Department has earlier bagged many Awards due to the dedicated efforts of entire team specially from the Sr. Consultant, Mr. Munish Chandan.
