Hizb commander Burhan Wani goes into hiding
Srinagar April 12: Four of his close associates were gunned down in the recent past and it is no surprise the the face of the militancy uprising in Kashmir, Burhan Wani who is a Hizbul Mujahideen Commander, has gone into hiding. U4UVoice had reported in October 2015 how social media had turned into a total disaster for Burhan Wani and his associates and as has been seen lately, Burhan Wani’s activity on Social Media has been negligible.
The young Hizb commander used social media actively in the past to lure the gullible Kashmiri youth into militancy and had almost led a wave against the Indian Armed forces and after the neutralising of a larger number of his aides, he has gone into hiding with the help of the locals confirm sources in the Army.
For sometime it has been speculated that Burhan has crossed over to Pakistan but the sources in army confirm that he is hiding in the Jungles of South Kashmir. He has stopped using social media and communicating with people.
Unmanned aerial vehicles have been used in the recent past to scan the forests of Tral, a popular militant hotbed in South Kashmir.
In a startling revelation by the army source Burhan Wani is being questioned by the locals on the soundness of his approach which led to the killing of many young men in the valley.
On the issue of use of social media by militants, Col Goswami told media persons, “Militants are trying to use social media to encourage young boys to join their ranks. It is a new dimension but there hasnt been an abrupt increase in the numbers (of fresh recruits).”
“The strategy is to lure and recruit young boys and give them rudimentary training because the adversary (neighbouring nation) is not able to push terrorists into J&K. There is also a pool of overground workers who provide logistics and arms to militants,” said Colonel Goswami.
