Srinagar, Sept 17: During the period of the last two months, eighty youth, mostly belonging to South Kashmir, have gone missing and it has been widely speculated that they may have joined terrorist groups active in the valley. According to the information of the intelligence agencies, most of the missing youth have joined the Kashmir based militant organization Hizbul Mujahideen and a small percentage have gravitated towards banned militant organization Lashkar-e-Taiba.
There is credible intelligence that points towards very possible independent attacks by the Hizbul Mujahideen as well as Lashkar very soon.
Reports by the Intelligence Bureau officials have repeatedly mentioned about the number of terroists who have infiltrated into Kashmir since the unrest began on July 9.
Terrorists have in the last two months taken advantage of the mobs both for hidden attacks on security personnel as well as mixing with the protesters to hide in plain sight during search operations.
Hizbul Mujahideen as part of their propaganda have released videos almost every week in the last month where the focus has been to dissuade the youth from joining the Special Police Officer jobs as well as warning those already in government jobs to quit or else face death
Further the Lashkar-e-Taiba also released a kill list of twenty-five people, including five PDP party members, from Baramulla, in which it warned against siding with the Indian establishment.
These factors cannot be taken lightly maintain officials in the Jammu and Kashmir police. The police has also mentioned that these are clear warnings and is part of the larger agenda to keep the Valley on the boil.
Officials also say that there was relatively less violence due to Eid, but looking at the messages that the terrorist groups are putting up, it is clear that they will look to attack.
