Hope for J&K Youth as Tata Trusts will begin skill development programmes
CHENNAI: Tata Trusts on Wednesday joined hands with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to accelerate the pace of skill development in Jammu & Kashmir.
A study will be undertaken by Dalberg Global Development Advisors aimed at understanding the aspirations of the youth from the state and identifying the key challenges and interventions that can create employment opportunities with corporates.
Commenting on this initiative, S Ramadorai, chairman, NSDA & NSDC said, “We have seen some encouraging results from the state of J&K along with the required passion and eagerness of the youth to be a part of the large corporates and MSME sector in India. This intervention is a natural extension of our desire to enable a two-way connect between the industry and the state’s youth leading to mutually beneficial outcomes while addressing aspirations.”
The statement said graduates, postgraduates and engineering diploma holders from J&K had exhibited their professional abilities while working in reputed companies across India under the Udaan programme of the Ministry of Home Affairs, run by NSDC in collaboration with several corporates.
Sectors like retail, banking, financial services, IT-ITeS, infrastructure and hospitality have been covered so far.
