SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 01: Housing sector is one of the important components of an Organisation to enhance its capabilities in the field of public service and Jammu and Kashmir Police has made a dedicated effort through the utilisation of modernisation programme to upgrade building infrastructure across the State.
This was disclosed by the Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. K .Rajendra Kumar, while commissioning various buildings in District Kupwara and Handwara today. He said that during past years, State Police is focussing on upgrading its facilities to provide better living and working facilities for its personnel, besides raising alternate accommodation for the security forces involved for internal security duties in the State. This was also necessitated due to the increasing volume of the force, he added.
Mr. Rajendra disclosed that under the modernisation programme, various police station buildings, police post buildings, residential barracks and quarters have been raised and thereby increased the satisfaction level. Also to meet other needs, up-gradation of other sectors continue to be the main focus and the State police is committed to strengthen the living standard of its personnel to enhance their capabilities in public service.
The buildings commissioned today include two multi storey hostel blocks at Tutee-gund Handwara, 5-storey hostel block and office-cum-residence, Upper subordinate block at Drugmulla, ASP office at Kupwara multi-storey hostel block and conference-cum-recreation hall at Wuyan, Kupwara. The buildings have been constructed by Police Construction Division (PCD) at a total cost of Rs.14 cores in a record time.
The DGP was accompanied by ADG (Headquarters), Mr. S.P. Vaid, IGP (Kashmir Zone), SJM Gillani, DIG NKR, Mr. Garib Dass, AIG (Buildings PHQ), Mr. Sheikh Zulfikar Azad, Exn: PCD, Mr. Rashid Mustafa, SSP Kupwara, Mr. Aijaz Ahmad SP PD Handwara Mr. Gh Jeelani and other police officers.
