Jammu,March 19: The Bharat Mata Ki Jai slugfest is far from getting over in the political wrestling arena of Omar Abdullah where the verbal wars started over chanting of patriotic slogans is far from over.
The former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister cleared that he does not have a problem Chanting Bharat Mata Ki Jai in so many words but also asked what was the need for him to please someone or some organization?
“I am saying — I’ve no problem with slogan ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ but why are you asking for a certificate to prove nationalism?” He questioned.
Omar also found fault with the RSS style of getting people to express patriotism albeit without a direct reference to the right wing organization.
I know what I feel for my nation, I don’t need to prove it to anyone by raising any slogans… I am what I am why should I need a certificate or produce one,” Omar added as quoted by JKNI.
The working President of the National Conference compared the centralised functioning of BJP at present to the 1980s style functioning of the Congress which was actively doing away with state governments.
Speaking on the intolerance issues associated with the JNU recently Omar did say that students need to be actively involved in politics.
