Srinagar, March 30: In an exclusive interview with U4U VOICE, IG Kashmir, Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gillani, has mentioned that the water is receding now in many places in Kashmir and is already below the Danger mark. He has appealed to all the residents in Kashmir to not panic as the situation is now getting under control.
Mr. Gillani said over the telephone, “The situation is improving as the water levels which had risen past the danger levels are now receding. The situation is already NOT flood-like situation in multiple locations and there is no need to panic.”
The statement by IG Kashmir comes as a relief since the weatherman has predicted rains for next 48 hours in Jammu and Kashmir and particularly in the valley because of western disturbances.
Meanwhile, 237 families were evacuated by Police in the valley yesterday. Police and civil administration has evacuated 237 families in South and North Kashmir and moved them to safer places.
Budgam police and district administration has evacuated 221 families to safer places since yesterday, among them 99 families were provided tents. The people has been shifted to schools and Panchayat Ghars and 68 families have opted to be with thieir relatives.
Sopore police also has evacuated 13 families from Panzila, Rafiaabad and Dangiwacha areas of Sopore district. Meanwhile Anantnag police has evacuated a family consisting of 06 members to a safer place.
Kupwara police has evacuated 02 families of Mauali Kasana son of Walia Kasana and Farooq Ahmad Kasana son of Ismail Kasana residents of Muqamrishi and were shifted to Middle School Rishawari which is a safer location.
