The authorities of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is not providing students with adequate facilities at the centres where classes are being held and the students are suffering because of it.

I am a student of IGNOU and my classes take place at Sri Pratap (SP) College, Srinagar but for the last few weeks, the classes are not being held properly because of the lack of basic facilities at the college.

The classes took place in the severe cold conditions in Kashmir since there is no provision of any heating system. Besides, they don’t have arrangement for drinking water to students during the Sunday classes. Even the students in coaching centers are provided with better facilities than this IGNOU centre.

The classes look like as the “ghost rooms” with no basic study material like writing boards and class rooms. The students have complain a number of times but all in vain.

Even the vice-principal of SP college, Mehraj-ud-Din has said that the basic facilities provided in the college are for their regular students but as far as the IGNOU is concerned, the SP college authorities are not supposed to provide them the facilities like heating system. SP college is only responsible for providing them space and it has already been given them.
