IIPA J&K organizes 4thSatpalSahni Memorial Lecture
JAMMU :- Journalist, literary, cultural and social personality of Jammu late Satpal Sahniwas remembered today at a function at Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), J&K Regional branch today.
The function was presided over by Economic Advisor to J&K Government, Mr. Jalil Ahmed Khan.
Prof. Varun Sahni, Former Vice Chancellor Jammu University delivered “4thSatpalSahni Memorial Lecture” on “India’s Attributes and Interests who are we and what do we want”.
Vice Chancellor, Central University, Jammu, Dr. S.S. Bloeria, Mrs PremSahni, Former Vice Chancellor, Jammu University, Prof. Varun Sahni, Chairman IIPA, Dr. Ashok Bhan, Mr. VedBhasin, Mr. K.B. Jandial and galaxy of Intellectual, academicians and admirers of late Sahni were present on the occasion.
Mr. Jalil Ahmed Khan while paying tribute to late SatpalSahni said that he was in impressive, unique and professional journalist who has left deep imprints on the socio-economic canvass of the State. He also appreciated Prof. VarunSahni for giving an overview of Indian situation in the global scenario in the lecture. He underscored the need for evolving a national consensus in approach for India’s foreign policy which shall have International ramifications. He said evolution of a persistent and well thought out approach in developing foreign policy, adding that a long term perspective to safe guard Indian Interests as far as International Scenario is concerned was need of the hour.
He underscored the need for a total commitment to the cause of Nation, adding that this was necessary for survival of the Nation in the global scenario.
Prof. VarunSahni in his SatpalSahni Memorial Lecture presented detail overview of Indian attributes that are required for its sustained growth and development in the global scenario. He gave 19 attributes that India needs to have a fundamental impact on external and internal policies and its role in world affairs. He said India is an emerging regional and Asian Power having disputed boundaries and is a target of terrorism. He said India is a developing, globalizing and technologically vibrant economy.
Mr. S.S. Bloeria in his tributes to late SatpalSahni described him a reliable guide and philosopher and threw light on different facets of his multidimensional personality. He said late Satpal had great credibility among the people.
Dr. Bhan in his welcome address while paying tribute to late SatpalSahni described him as stalwart who has excelled in literary, cultural and social pursuits and was the founder member of IIPA, J&K Regional Chapter.
