JAMMU, May 18: A police official from Banihal area has been charged by the Crime Branch, which has registered a case against him, for producing fraudulent certificates in order to get the job of a policeman.
The cop has been identified as Atta Mohd Naik, who in actuality is uneducated but managed to get the job owing to the fake certificates.
The complaint was filed by Abdul Rashid Sohil, a resident of Banihal, before the State Vigilance Commission alleging that Mohammed Naik was totally illiterate and had submitted fake certificates/documents in order to secure a job in the Police Department.
Presently, Mohammed Naik is serving as Barber in IRP 9th BN Maitra. It was further alleged that according to the service book of Mohammmed Naik, his date of birth has been mentioned as 01-04-1969, where as the date of his appointment was 24-12-1985, which clearly means that he was recruited at the age of 16, which in turn is not even the legal age to be employed in the department.
On the receipt of this complaint, the matter was got inquired by the SVC through Commandant IRP 9th Bn, and on the basis of the report by the Commandant, an order dated 30-11-2015 was passed by the State Vigilance Commission wherein Director General of Police was directed to register a formal case regarding the matter.
Subsequently, the matter was forwarded to the Crime Branch by the Police Headquarters. The spokesperson of the Crime Branch stated that the omissions and commissions on the part of Atta Mohammed Naik prima facie, constitute offences that are punishable under Sections 420,465,467,468,471, 120-B RPC and respective action will be taken soon.
