In a letter, Nawaz Sharif thanks Asiya Andrabi

Srinagar: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has allegedly written a letter to thank the Chief of Dukhtaran-e-Millat Asiya Andrabi in a response to her letter lauding the role of Pakistan towards resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

Radio Pakistan on Monday published the contents of the letter signed by Sharif on September 30 this year.

Thanking Andrabi for reposing trust on Pakistan’s policies towards Kashmir issue, Sharif writes: “Pakistan does not see the Kashmir dispute as a geographical issue, but an unfinished agenda of 1947 Partition Plan.”

“The essence of the principles of partition is that the Muslim majority state of Kashmir should be given the right to self-determination. This right has been recognized by the entire world through the forum of United Nations. India itself has promised the world community that Kashmir would be given the right to choose its political future through the exercise of self-determination.”

Backtracking from this promise, he writes, would be a betrayal of the promise done to the entire world community.”

He assures that Pakistan will stick to its policy of extending diplomatic, political and moral support to Kashmiris in their struggle for the right to self-determination and freedom as promised by the UN.

Praising the struggle of Andrabi, who sang the national anthem and unfurled Pakistan’s flag on August 14, Sharif writes: “We know that your struggle is for a right that has been recognized by every nation that believes in human, moral and democratic principles.”
