Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday led a protest against the reported move of the government to issue domicile certificates to West Pakistan refugees.
Mirwaiz was joined by several of his supporters during the protest outside the Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of downtown Srinagar.
Chanting pro-freedom and anti-government slogans, the protesters dubbed the reported government move as “State dictatorship”.
Mirwaiz and the protesters were carrying banners with messages “No Domicile for West Pakistan refugees. Stop State Dictatorship’, “we want freedom” and ‘Down With SARFAESI Act”.
Meanwhile JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik also lead protest fron Lalchowk Srinagar which later was detained by police with his supporters.
