Jammu: Come diwali and the markets are decorated and adorned with diwali goodies and souvenirs.
For generations, Indian homes were lit up by diyas, or traditional earthen lamps, during Diwali. Earlier, potters complained that customers prefer cheaper Chinese electrical lighting or more pricey products in shopping malls, jeopardizing their livelihoods.
This year following India-Pakistan relations, there is a wave for boycotting Chinese products. While this is very much prevalent On speaking with vendors, it was clear that Jammu is all for purchasing Indian made products this diwali. The products received by the sellers are all manufactured in India. “Earlier even the diya’s were china made but this year the diya’s aare also made in India”.
