The army, called in to assist the civil administration, carried out a flag march to instil confidence among the people.
Trouble erupted in the town on Eid on July 18 when activists of a right wing outfit burnt a flag of international terror group, the Islamist State.
Muslims said holy verses were written on the flag, and burning it was sacrilege.
