Slamming Pakistan for weaving a fake narrative around children living in Jammu and Kashmir, India said that Islamabad has the dubious distinction of schooling young children in violent extremist ideologies and recruiting them in terrorist groups.

First Secretary in India’s Permanent Mission to the UN Paulomi Tripathi lashed out at Pakistan accusing it of “deceitful political propaganda and making unwarranted references to internal matters of my country”.

Tripathi was responding to the remarks made by Pakistan’s outgoing UN envoy Maleeha Lodhi on Wednesday in which she raked up the issue of Jammu and Kashmir and referred to the condition of children in the state after the abrogation of Article 370.

Citing reports by the UN High Commissioner, Lodhi had highlighted the “human rights situation in Jammu and Kashmir”.

Hitting out at Pakistan, Tripathi commented: Islamabad had a dubious distinction of running a system of schooling young children in violent extremist ideologies and recruiting them in terrorist groups.

She further accused the country of robbing not only these children of their future but also jeopardising the future of children across the borders.

Referring to 2018 the UN global study’s report cited by Lodhi, Tripathi said children in Pakistan were deprived of liberty and slammed Pakistan for quoting a UN expert out of context.

Tripathi further said that Pakistan is the most vulnerable country in a world facing poverty, armed conflict, terrorism and humanitarian crises.
