‘Indian Democracy Murdabad’, NC, Congress leaders over deferment of Anantnag by-polls

New Delhi, April 11: Local leaders of Congress and National Conference, the prime Opposition parties in Jammu & Kashmir, raised anti-India slogans outside the District Collectorate office in Anantnag. The political workers could be heard shouting ‘Indian democracy murdabad’ (death to Indian democracy). The slogans were raised over the deferment of Anantnag bypoll to May 25.

The Anantnag Lok Sabha bye-election, which was slated on April 12, was postponed to May 25. The decision was taken by Election Commission on Monday night, after being recommended by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The conditions in the Valley were considered non-conducive for free and fair elections, considering the dismal voter turnout in Srinagar on Sunday.
