Intel agencies worried as illegal migrants in Jammu try to get ration, voter, aadhar cards
To ensure that illegal migrants in Jammu and Kashmir are not able to get enrolled under the Aadhar scheme, the authorities have prepared a list with details of the residents who have sneaked into the state from Bangladesh and Myanmar. In fact sources said that these illegal migrants are using all tactics to acquire fake ration cards, and are now making all efforts to get enrolled in Aadhar scheme. Some local politicians and patrons are allegedly helping the migrants in the hope of using them during elections.
The presence of such large number of migrants who are trying to acquire citizenship of the state has alarmed the security and intelligence agencies who are keeping a sharp eye on the activities of these groups. Local authorities are particularly worried about the presence of the Rohingya refugees who are trying their utmost to get local identification. However, a section of civil society is also worried about the demographic impact of these migrants in Jammu as they follow Islam. Recently, the agencies found that hundreds of applications were filed by illegal migrants with fake documents which were rejected. However, there is apprehension that some of these intruders might slip in the system and acquire genuine papers and later emerge as a threat to the peace and security of state. Recently, the police has arrested a terrorist who had managed to obtain an Aadhar card using fake papers. This is perhaps the reason that a strict vigil is maintained on the activities of the migrants, and also a detailed list of over 30,000 migrants has been prepared.
As per government information, there are more than 5000 Burmese migrants living in Jammu, and they have put up in Narwal Bala.
