Inter-state drug racket busted, 5 arrested with heroin in Jammu

Jammu: Five people were arrested with a contraband of heroin as police busted inter-state drug racket in this winter capital of the state. “Major success was achieved by recovering five kg of heroin and apprehending of five people of Inter State gang,’’ police here said.

They said the police party this afternoon observed two vehicles in suspicious condition parked on B C Road, Jammu and during questioning it was found that two groups of people from different parts of the country were indulged in some dealing of contraband items.

“Further questioning and search conducted instantly and five-Kg of Heroin was recovered in five packets from a vehicle as well as cash amount Rs 1.5 lakh seized from the culprits brought for the dealing,’’ they said.

A case under NDPS Act has been registered and investigation started while so far two people from Punjab and three from Kupwara were arrested in the case and contraband and money seized.
