Is your LPG dealer overcharging cooking gas refills?

Kathua, September 1: A team of Legal Metrology Department Kathua under the supervision of Assistant controller legal metrology Jaideep Singh Sambyal imposed a fine of fifteen thousand rupees on LPG dealer namely M/S Vimal Gas Agency Kathua for overcharging on the sale of domestic cylinders at Kathua.

The team has booked the dealer following complaints from consumers regarding overcharging and poor home delivery in the town. The department has served legal notice to the management of the concerned oil company.

The LPG dealer confessed being guilty and pleaded for composition of the case while the assistant controller on written assurance that the same shall not be repeated in future compounded the case.

Further the assistant controller directed the dealer to immediately display mobile numbers of delivery man area wise in print media and prominently outside the showroom for the information of consumers so that they can do booking through SMS. He also directed the dealer to educate people regarding PDT (Preferred Delivery Time) system to facilitate the consumers where both husband and wife are working and there is nobody at home to take delivery.


Meanwhile the Assistant controller appealed to the public to register their genuine complaints with the office of legal metrology so that offenders may be brought to book for further legal action. The Assistant controller further said that in future similar inspections will be done at the premises of the LPG dealer in district kathua for streamlining home delivery system.
