The Sunni insurgents, known as Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), have warned people of the parts of Iraq under its control against non-Islamic influences that cropped up under previous regimes.
In Mosul, ISIS has ordered that women’s dress should cover their hands and feet along with full-face veils. The clothes that hug the body and perfumes have been prohibited. Reports emerging from Iraq say that women of Mosul city have been told to wear strictly full-face veils or risk severe punishment as per Islamic laws.
The ISIS, now controlling many parts of Iraq and Syria, has listed guidelines on how veils and clothes by Muslim women should be worn as per their radical version of Islam to prevent debauchery and vulgarity. Further, women have also been ordered to never walk unaccompanied by a male guardian.
Sunni insurgents view Iraq’s majority Shias as infidels who deserve to be killed. It is a well known fact now that ISIS believes in Wahhabist interpretation of Islam and indulges in brutal violence against Shia Muslims and Christians.
One may recall that last month a caliphate was proclaimed with Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi as its caliph and the group was renamed the Islamic State. Currently, Baghdadi is known as Amir al-Mu’minin Caliph Ibrahim of Islamic State.
