Srinagar, February 25: A teen Fidayeen belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit has been arrested by Police and Army from Baramulla on Wednesday. Reportedly, the teenaged boy had carried a terror attack near the Line of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district along with his three associates.
As per reports in a DE, 17-year old, Mohammad Sadiq Gujjar is the son of Walid Mohammad Gujjar. He is a resident of Sialkote tehsil in Pakistan. His three associates Hussain, Malik and Rizwan were killed by Army during the encounter while Mohammad Sadiq managed to escape.
Security agencies have claimed that the arrest of this teen Fidayeen is a major success for police in North Kashmir. He, according to Police, is the only Fidayeen of Afzal Guru group of JeM. Reportedly, the squad of four fidayeen had carried out three Fidayeen attacks so far including last month’s Pathankot attack on Indian Air Force base.
During investigation, the Fidayeen Sadiq told his interrogators that a group of four JeM militants were launched from Athmuqam in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and were tasked to carry out Fidayeen attack on any camp near the LoC. With the help of GPS devices, they started on foot at around 10 pm on Nov 24. They reach Tanghdar Army camp in around 6-7 hours.
Since Gujjar was the only teenager in the group, his colleague told him to leave and accordingly, he fled to nearby forests and hid in there for three days. After three days, he changed his clothes and boarded a Sumo along with his weapon from Tanghdar. He reached Kupwara where he befriended some people who helped him to travel to Baramulla. The Fidayeen spent around 15 days in Baramulla and then arrested by police after his suspicious movements.
The police also arrested the person who gave shelter to the boy. Seven other people have also been detained for providing him assistance and his weapon has also detained.
The police said that Mohammad Sadiq Gujjar belongs to well off farmer family in Sialkote. He is the middle one of five brothers and two sisters. His school friend who was also a JeM militant lured him into militancy. He received three month’s training in JeM camp where he was motivated for Jihad besides arms training
