Jammu and Kashmir government could provide security for separatist leaders

SRINAGAR:  In the backdrop of threat to separatists by Hizbul Mujahedeen (HM) commander Zakir Musa, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today said that the government will consider providing security to them (separatists) if they ask for it.

“If anyone (separatists) seeks security from us (government), we will consider it,” Ms Mehbooba told reporters here on the sidelines of a sporting event for differently-abled children.

The Chief Minister was responding to a question whether the government will provide security to separatists in view of threat issued by Musa yesterday in an audio clip.

Reiterating the resolve of the Government to provide facilities and infrastructure to youth sportspersons in the state, Ms Mehbooba said if exposed to right environment, they have the potential and capability to win laud at national and international fora.


Expressing happiness over high turnout of children at the ‘First sports festival 2017 for differently-abled children, she said there was more need to bring these children in the mainstream.
