Day 2 of Jammu Shutdown- Kachhi Chawni sealed amid unrest

  • Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) of 1973, empowers a magistrate to prohibit an assembly of more than ten people in an area

Security forces were deployed through out Kachi Chawni as agitation continued in Jammu against the government for not sanctioning a separate AIIMS for Jammu. Normal life was crippled amid complete shutdown in the area. The police force cordoned the area to restrict the angry mobs.

A score of aggressive ACC activist tried to reach Kachi Chawni by taking the bylanes but police resorted them. The District magistrate, Jammu has now imposed Section 144 within the Municipal Limits of Jammu in view of ongoing clashes among activists and cops. Section 144 is also applied to the peripheral tehsils of Jammu. Anyone violating shall be booked by Police under section 188 of RPC.
