The meeting was attended by senior functionaries of the PCC, members of the executive, frontal heads and district presidents of Jammu province which was presided over by Vice President and former Minister Shri Mula Ram.

The meeting was attended by Vice President PCC, General Secretaries PCC, Members of the Executive PCC, Secretaries and Organizing  Secretaries PCC, District President and heads of Mahila Congress, INTUC, Seva Dal and Youth Congress.

The participants shared the inputs about the ongoing membership drive from different blocks and assembly constituencies of all districts of Jammu province and the present status of the current membership drive as part of the membership all over the country as per instructions of the AICC. The participants sought more membership for various blocks and constituencies in view of good response from the grass root level and requested for extending the time limit in this regard to reach to every nook and corner especially in the remote and farflung areas.

The President JKPCC Ghulam Ahmed Mir who was scheduled to arrive from Srinagar to preside the meeting could not reach in time due to delay of the flight while Sham Lal Sharma-Sr. Vice President PCC was unable to attend the meeting because of ill health. The meeting was attended by Vice President PCC and former Minister Raman Bhalla, Kanta Bhan besides other senior leaders of the party.

On the request of the party leaders, the President JKPCC extended the date for the membership by ten days and requested all concerned to deposit the membership by or before the 10th of June, 2015.

Speaking in the meeting the senior leaders of the party asked the party functionaries and workers at the grass root level to accelerate the process of ongoing membership drive and enroll the maximum members in order to strengthen the secular and democratic forces in the state. They said that Congress has a vital role in the state in view of its unifying and secular policies which are essential for maintaining harmony and secular fabric of our pluralistic society.

Senior Congress leaders said that people are getting disenchanted with the policies of the BJP and PDP government in the state in view of the failure the coalition partners to honor the commitments made to the respective electorate during the elections. The people feel cheated by the betrayal of the BJP to their ideology and election promises made to hoodwink the people in Jammu region to secure their votes. The party made a ‘U-Turn’ on all important commitments and has made a ‘summersault’ for entering in to corridors of power. The two consecutive complete bandhs in Jammu region reflect the anger of the people who have rejected the policies of the unholy coalition in the state and the policies of the centre government.

The meeting felt that the party has been playing the role desired from a vibrant opposition in the state when the two ideologically and fundamentally opposite forces have entered into an unholy alliance for the sake of power, keeping aside the electoral promises and aspirations of the people and are taking such decisions which are against the interests of the people and different sections of the society. The meeting also expressed satisfaction over the series of conventions held in various parts of the state and decided to further gear up the activities to activate the cadres in order to expose the opportunist  combination and their wrong policies as a result the political and security atmosphere is being vitiated and the anti national forces are getting encouraged day by day.
