The participants sought more membership for various blocks and constituencies in view of good response from the grass root level and requested for extending the time limit in this regard to reach to every nook and corner especially in the remote and farflung areas.
The President JKPCC Ghulam Ahmed Mir who was scheduled to arrive from Srinagar to preside the meeting could not reach in time due to delay of the flight while Sham Lal Sharma-Sr. Vice President PCC was unable to attend the meeting because of ill health. Speaking in the meeting the senior leaders of the party asked the party functionaries and workers at the grass root level to accelerate the process of ongoing membership drive and enroll the maximum members in order to strengthen the secular and democratic forces in the state. They said that Congress has a vital role in the state in view of its unifying and secular policies which are essential for maintaining harmony and secular fabric of our pluralistic society.
The meeting felt that the party has been playing the role desired from a vibrant opposition in the state when the two ideologically and fundamentally opposite forces have entered into an unholy alliance for the sake of power, keeping aside the electoral promises and aspirations of the people and are taking such decisions which are against the interests of the people and different sections of the society. The meeting also expressed satisfaction over the series of conventions held in various parts of the state and decided to further gear up the activities to activate the cadres in order to expose the opportunist combination and their wrong policies as a result the political and security atmosphere is being vitiated and the anti national forces are getting encouraged day by day.
