Shubham Singh Pundir, a talented middle-order batsman, who emerged third top run getter in the country in the CK Nayudu Under-23 Tournament, being organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Shubham Singh Pundir of Mayank Goswami Cricket Academy has created history by registering his name among the top three scorers of India for the season 2017-2018.
Playing his mammoth inning of 194 runs against Goa, Pundir became the 3rd highest run scorer in the entire country.
The talented south paw amassed a colossal 585 runs from 7 innings at an incredible average of 83.57 runs per innings and an impressive strike rate off 66.67, including a brilliant innings of 194 runs against Goa.
Shubham, who was skipper of J&K State, has now become a top contender for the Indian Under-23 squad for the Asia Cup this season. If selected, Shubham will become the first player in the history of Jammu and Kashmir to achieve the feat in respective age category.
The 19 year old ace cricketer , when asked about his performance claimed, “God has been kind to me and so far my efforts are bearing fruits. My goal is to keep working hard and put in the best performances so that I can make the state and everybody else proud”.
A number of ex-players had a lot of good things to say about the prodigious south paw. They stated, “Shubham is a special talent and needs to be taken care of by JKCA. We need to make sure that Shubham gets all the opportunities he deserves to play for India this season and JKCA has a huge role to play in that.
It’s a matter of pride for the state and JKCA that one of our very own has raised to such heights. “We just need to make sure his efforts go all the way this time. It has happened in the past that Shubham has scored tons of runs but his performances remained ignored during India selections.
He is being tipped as the most talented youngster in the State by cricketing experts.
