Jammu: Five gamblers arrested, stake money recovered
JAMMU: Police on Thursday arrested five gamblers and recovered Rs 88,230 as stake money from the spot.
During the intervening night of September 27/28, a police party led by SDPO West, Pranav Mahajan along with Inspector Ashwani Sharma, SHO Bakshi Nagar and SI Thakur Dutt, Incharge Police Post GMC conducted a raid near PR Hotel and arrested five persons. Police recovered Rs 88,230 as stake money along with playing cards from the spot. Besides this, Rs.66,000 was also recovered from the gamblers on their personal search.
The arrested gamblers were identified as Jasvinder Singh, son of Surinder Singh, resident of Talab Tillo Jammu; Deepak Sharma, son of Hem Raj Sharma, resident of Kunjwani; Harjeet Kumar, son of Gurmeet Singh, resident of Bhagwati Nagar; Rakesh Kumar, son of Amar Nath, resident of Roop Nagar Digiana and Nalin Gupta, son of Jagdish Chander Gupta, resident of Old Hospital Road Jammu. They were booked under Section 13 of Gambling Act and were produced in the Court. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Dr Vinod Kumar, SP City North and under the overall command of SSP Jammu, Dr Sunil Gupta.
