Jammu getting marginalized; PM Modi to skip winter capital during Nov 7 visit to Kashmir
In another indicator of the growing marginalization of Jammu, and it’s people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to skip the winter capital during his day long visit to the state during which he will address a mega rally in Srinagar. In fact the state BJP leadership also has not showed much interest in inviting the PM to Jammu which had voted lock, stock and barrel in favour of the saffron party bringing the party to power for the first time in J&K.
Sources said that the BJP in Jammu has has failed miserably in coming to the expectations of the masses, and as such the local leaders are neither enthused nor confident of holding a large rally. The failure to set up AIIMS in Jammu, whereas the state has already identified land in Srinagar which has become another sour point in the province. There has been delays in several projects in Jammu and the opposition to the Tawi lake project also shocked the local populace. The much promised end of discrimination with this region has also been put on backburner as the BJP too has backtracked on Article 370, Dogra certificate, and the recent beef controversy has also stoked the anger of the people of this region.
In such circumstances, BJP insiders tell that while PM will announce a package for flood affected in the state there is nothing much to give to the people of Jammu which is again going to offend them. Despite assurances by the party leadership that AIIMS would be set up in this region there has been no progress which is now being seen by people as ploy by the party to hoodwink people.
