Gandhi Nagar police arrested four drug peddlers including a Head Constable of the Jammu and Kashmir Police along with 660 grams heroin worth Rs 66 lakh and 3.5 kilograms of ganja.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station laid a naka and intercepted an ambassador car bearing registration number JK02AV-7374.
During checking, police recovered 600 grams of heroin worth Rs 60 lakh from the possession of the driver and arrested him. The arrested person identified as Fiza Hussain, son of Mohammad Abdullah of Kupwara is a Head Constable in the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department.
Sources revealed that the arrested Head Constable used to smuggle the heroin in the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department’s official ambassador car, so as to divert the attention of the cops, but, on credible information, he has been arrested today along with the heroin.
Meanwhile, the team intercepted a Maruti car bearing registration number JK 21-9321. During frisking, police recovered 60 grams of heroin valuing Rs 6 lakh from the possession of the driver and arrested him. The arrested person has been identified as Narender Kumar alias Tanchi, son of Satpal, a resident of Rs Pura with 60 grams of heroin valuing Rs 6 lakh.
The team also arrested two inter-state drug peddlers and recovered 3.5 kilograms of ganja from their possession. The arrested persons have been identified as Dinesh Kumar, son of Ram Gopal and Sham Ji Mali, both residents of Uttar Pradesh.
Cases under FIR Numbers 42/18, 43/18 and 44/18 have been registered against them at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started to ascertain the source of consignments.
Police team led by SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and assisted by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Jasrotia, Incharge police post Digiana Sandeep Chauhan, Incharge police post Nehru Market JP Singh and Incharge Police Post Greater Kailash Vicky Thapa made the arrests under the supervision of SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
