Drugs and Food Control Organization has suspended licenses of the 16 firms in Rajouri district for violation of the provisions of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act.
The firms, which were found violating the provisions of Drugs & Cosmetics Act and whose operations were disallowed, included M/s Shiv Shakti Medical hall, Sunderbani ; M/s Bharat Medicos, Sunderbani ; M/s Sanjeevani Medical Hall, Sunderbani ; M/s Sharma Medical Hall, Sunderbani ; M/s Shashi Medicos, Sunderbani ; M/s Subash Medical Agency, Sunderbani ; M/s Rattan Medical Hall, Nowsherra, M/s Jandial Medical Hall, Sunderbani ; M/s Rajouri Medicity ,Rajouri ; M/s Alfaiz Medical Stores, Rajouri ; M/s Skyway Medical Hall, Rajouri ; M/s Medicare Rajouri ; M/s Deep Medicos, Sunderbani ; M/s Bogia Medical hall, Sunderbani. In order to ensure that safe and quality medicines are being made available to the general public , team of officers of Drugs & Food Control Organization was constituted by Lotika Khajuria, Controller, Drugs & Food Control Organization, J&K to carry out surprise supervisory checks of Retail/Whole Sale Outlets of medicines in Rajouri district under the direct supervision of Assistant Drugs Controller, Mohd Iqbal Palla and Rajesh Anguralla.
The team carried out surprise supervisory checks of more than 60 Retail Sale Outlets situated in the tehsils Nowsherra, Sunderbani, Rajouri etc.
Action against 16 firms was initiated for committing breaches of the provisions of Drugs & Cosmetics Act,1940 & Rules thereunder.
Operations of such firms were disallowed on spot and licenses of the firms were suspended for violation of the provisions of the Act.
Moreover, statutory drug samples of more than thirty formulations viz Antibiotics, PPI, Steroid, NSAIDs etc were drawn to check the identity, strength and purity of these drugs.
These samples have been referred to State Drug Testing Laboratories for framing legal opinion to ascertain their quality parameters. Meanwhile, an Awareness Program was also conducted by the department in which hundreds of chemists from Sunderbani, Kalakote, Nowsherra, Thanamandi, Manjakote, Buddhal, Bakori, attended the program wherein they were impressed upon to implement mandate of Schedule H-1 (Antibiotics, Psychotropic Substances) in letter & spirit.
Trade fraternity was also impressed upon to follow good trade practices in the larger patient interest.
